Long-distance moving, demystified.
How much does a long-distance move cost?
Most long-distance moves fall between $2,500 and $9,500 depending on home size, distance, and services. A one-bedroom cross-country move typically runs $2,500–$4,500; a three-bedroom is usually $5,500–$9,500. Every Longhaul quote is binding in writing — the number you see is the number you pay, with no surprise fees on delivery day.
How long does a long-distance move take?
Delivery windows depend on distance. Moves under 1,000 miles typically deliver in 2–4 days; 1,000–2,000 miles in 4–7 days; coast-to-coast moves in 7–10 days. We commit to a guaranteed delivery window in your contract, not a vague range.
How far in advance should I book a long-distance move?
Book 4–6 weeks out for summer or holiday dates, and 2–3 weeks for off-season moves. Peak season runs May through early September. We do accommodate last-minute moves when trucks are available — just ask.
Are you licensed to move between states?
Yes. Any mover crossing state lines must be registered with the FMCSA, and you can verify any carrier's USDOT and MC numbers free on the FMCSA's public SAFER database at https://safer.fmcsa.dot.gov. Ask us for ours before you book — a mover who won't give you the number is one to walk away from. We carry full-value cargo protection on every long-distance move.
Will the same crew load and unload my belongings?
Yes. We use dedicated long-distance crews — the same team loads your truck, drives it, and unloads at destination. No warehouse transfers, no subcontractors mid-route, no belongings changing hands.
How is a long-distance quote calculated?
Long-distance pricing is based on three factors: the weight or volume of your belongings, the mileage between pickup and destination, and any additional services (packing, auto transport, storage). We provide a binding, written estimate before the move — no 'surprise' line items.
What if my closing dates don't line up?
We offer in-transit storage in climate-controlled vaults. Your belongings stay in our facility, fully inventoried and insured, until your new home is ready — up to 90 days standard, with longer terms available.
Do you move cars along with household goods?
Yes — we offer door-to-door auto transport coordinated with your household delivery. Open carriers for everyday vehicles, enclosed for classics and luxury. Both pickups scheduled so your car arrives when you do.
What happens if something is damaged in transit?
Less than 0.3% of items in our care incur damage, but when it happens, our full-value protection repairs or replaces the item at full market value. Claims are filed directly through your move coordinator — no outside adjuster, no paperwork gauntlet.
Which states do you serve for long-distance moves?
All 50 states and the District of Columbia. Our most common long-distance lanes are California ↔ Texas, the Northeast ↔ Florida, and East Coast ↔ Pacific Northwest. If your move involves a US origin and destination, we can handle it.
